Sigrun is spend­ing the fall on a sabbat­ical in Kon­stanz in Germany provi­ding a unique opportunity to learn about German soci­ology and soci­ety. This epis­ode feat­ures Sebast­ian Koos, assistant pro­fessor of cor­porate social responsi­bility at the Depart­ment of Polit­ics and Public Administration at the Uni­versity of Kon­stanz. His res­e­arch are in the area of economic soci­ology, for example with a focus on cor­porate social responsi­bility, susta­ina­ble and moral consum­ption, and the moral economy of capital­ism. His most recent res­e­arch has focused on one of the great chal­lenges of our times, the climate cris­is, and he has part­icul­arly looked at the role of Greta Thun­berg and climate stri­kes among the young gener­ation. Sebast­ian has looked at this through sur­veys of stu­dents in Germany and Switz­er­land as well as collect­ing data during the stri­kes themselv­es. The goal is among other things to part­icipate in public debates and policymak­ing reg­ar­ding the threat that most sci­ent­ists agree that we are facing.
