This week’s podcast feat­ures Valerio Bacak, assistant pro­fessor of crim­inal just­ice at Rut­gers Uni­versity in the U.S. Sigrun met up with Valerio in Hamburg where he is cur­rently stay­ing on a sabbat­ical. His res­e­arch are at the inter­sect­ion of crim­in­ology and med­ical soci­ology. He has part­icul­arly looked at the impact of impri­son­ment on health, as well as whether police contact impacts the health of Europeans. He discus­ses his res­e­arch with Sigrun as well as growing up in Croatia in the 90s and lea­v­ing there to pursue gradu­ate stu­dies in the U.K. and the U.S.
