This week´s podcast features Antonio Mature, associate professor of sociology at the University of Bologna in Italy. As everyone knows, Italy is among the countries worst affected during the current pandemic. The two of them discuss how things are in Italy at the moment, how things have developed and how sociology can help us to understand what is happening to our societies.
Antonio is a medical sociologist and his research has focused on the organization of the health care system, patients experience of chronic illness and medicalization. It is therefore obvious that Antonio can shed light on the interplay between pandemics and society as it is likely no sub-field of sociology that is more relevant in those times than medical sociology.
