The environment and global climate change have been one the major issues facing the world in the last years. We sometimes view those issues mostly within the domain of natural sciences, yet the social science perspective is essential for understanding the impact on the lives of individuals and groups, as well as our impact on the environment. To discuss this further, Sigrun had a conversation with Malcolm Fairbrother, Professor of Sociology at Umea University in Sweden and the University of Graz in Austria.
Malcolm´s research has focused on environmental and political sociology, and he has particularly considered the impact of trust on what people are willing to do for the environment. The two of them disucss his research related to globalization, trust and the environment, as well as briefly covering why Covid-19 is sociologically interesting and his views on the Swedish way of handling the pandemic.
