Our guest this week is Liz Chiarello, assistant professor of sociology at St. Louis University in the United States. Liz has focused on health and legal professions in her work, especially how technological changed impact their work, and even change the system as a whole. In her more recent research, she looks at the Opioid Crisis in the U.S. and how technical changes have changed the practices of pharmaceutical employers from being strictly health care workers toward also serving as legal workers where they collaborate with the police to locate those who might be overusing prescription medication.
