This week´s podcast features Christi Smith who is a senior scholar and assistant dean of international and area studies at Washington University in St. Louis. She finished her Ph.D. at Indiana University in 2012, has taught at Oberlin college and was a post-doctoral fellow at Ohio State University before moving to St. Louis. Her first book, Reparation and Reconciliation: The Rise and Fall of Integrated Higher Education was published in 2016, where she focused on how selected schools in the 19th century America began to teach blacks and whites, men and women together rather than separately as was the norm. She discusses her research with Sigrun as well as the U.S. educational system and inequality in America.
